About Me

Am I the right therapist for you?

I understand that choosing a therapist is a very personal thing and having a trusting relationship with your therapist is a vital part of making therapy successful. It is extremely important to me that you feel comfortable and safe to discuss anything you need to, so we will meet first to give you the opportunity to start to get to know me before making any kind of comittment.

I am a BABCP accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, which means I have done extensive training in order to qualify & that I continue to invest in my professional development (without which my accreditated status cannot be maintained).

This means that you can be confident that I have demonstrated to the BABCP (British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapists) that I am meeting their requirements for the highest standards of training & experience in CBT that enable me to support you effectively.

I have a keen interest in what are called third-wave CBT therapies - Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) & Mindfulness; this heavily influences my work.

I have undertaken additional specialist training to work with people with long-term health conditions & during 2020 I undertook additional training in adapting CBT to help people in managing the wide reaching impact of Covid.

I have also participated in research investigating the use of ACT for treating people with type II diabetes who are also experiencing anxiety &/or depression. This, coupled with my interest and extensive personal studies into the impact of nutrition on mental wellbeing, has sparked a particular interest in helping this community.

If you would like to have a chat about ways in which I can help you, then drop me a line on coswaycbt@pm.me to arrange a call.
